As the number of templates in your template set grows you will want to
rename, export or delete some of them. To do this go to the template tab of the
explorer. Select the template the you want to manage and right click to bring
up the context menu.
The
indicated items are for template management. The others are for
running a report in the various supported
formats.
- Loads the template into the editor.
- Removes the template from the template set.
- Creates a clone of the template.
- Starts the New Template wizard.
- The properties of the template. See below.
- The layout properties of the page.
- Default font settings for the template.
The properties:
- Name
- Click here to type a new name.
- Data entry point
- The name of the table or root where the data comes from. Not editable, just for reference.
- Last change
- The timestamp when the templet was last edited. Not editable, just for reference.
- Description
- You can enter a short description for the template, that makes it easier to
select a report.
- Doku file
- Here you can enter the URL of an html file which provides detailed
documentation for the report. The documentation will be displayed when the user
is asked for variables, and it can be looked up from the run window.
- Email configuration
- A report can be emailed automatically depending on setings in the report. Click into the values colums to
configure the email settings.
- Next Reports Section
- Another report, that shall be generated immediately following this report. Can be used to switch page settings
(e.g. between portrait and lanscape mode or to a different paper size.)
- First page printer tray
- The paper tray to use for the first page of the generated report.
- Further pages printer tray
- The paper tray to use for the following pages.
- Restart page numbers
- If this template is a section following another report, you can restart the page numbering or continue with the
current page count.
- Test Report
- A marker, that this template is not ready for deployment.
Exporting Reports
If you want to copy reports from one template set to another, then you
export them into a file, that can be imported into another template set.
Note: The schema of the exporting and the
importing template set must be compatible. If they are not identical,
ReportsAnywhere will automatically evolve the imported reports to the new schema.
To export, select export templates... from the file menu.
This pops up the export wizard:
Importing Reports
To import, select import templates... from the file menu.
This pops up the file chooser, were you can select the file to import.
Note:If the imported templates use named styles
which already exist in the importing template set, then the imported styles
will be overridden by the existing styles. Named styles that do not exist in
the importing template set, will be added.
Exporting/Importing Styles
To export, select export styles... from the file menu. This
pops up the file chooser to select a file were all named styles will be
stored.
To import, select import styles... from the file menu. This
pops up the file chooser, were you can select the file to import. In this case
imported named styles will override existing styles.
